Pregnancy is such a special time in a woman's life and it is important for the expectant mum to feel nurtured as she prepares herself for the birth of her baby.  And it is such a privilege to work with mums-to-be as I have in the past with Reiki and homeopathy.

Pregnancy massage can be a wonderful way to help to alleviate many of the symptoms and conditions associated with pregnancy.  Regular sessions can help with backache, swollen ankles, aching muscles, fatigue, breast soreness, heartburn and more.  It can help you to feel more connected with your baby.

It can also help mum to deal with the emotional stresses, such as concern for the baby's health, your changing body image and just coping with the day to day challenges.  During this amazing time of physical and emotional change, massage can be of enormous benefit to both mother and baby.

Massage during pregnancy can also help to prepare you for labour and make the postnatal period less stressful.  Massage can be of great benefit in helping you to prepare yourself physically and emotionally for childbirth and motherhood.

Regular pregnancy massage sessions can help to:

  • increase circulation of blood to all areas of the body, including the placenta

  • reduce strain on the muscles of the lower back, abdomen and shoulders

  • increase muscle tone

  • improve elasticity of the skin

  • encourage rest and relaxation

  • help to reduce fatigue due to increased oxygen absorption and enhanced waste removal

  • stabilise hormonal function through increased stimulation of glandular secretions

  • increase energy levels

  • elevate mood due to the increased endorphin production

  • reduce fluid retention due to more efficient lymph circulation

  • soothe nerves and promote relaxation

  • prepare you to communicate lovingly with your baby

  • prepare you mentally and physically for a healthy pregnancy

After a session rest and relax as much as possible and increase your water intake.  Try to cut down on caffeine intake and avoid having a heavy meal.

(There are some contraindications to this therapy so we will have a quick chat about your health.)
